Laban as an artist didn’t just want to show a finished choreographed ballet, but he wanted to go deeper. He wanted to find a way to express what and how the movement came to light. So he set out to again do the unthinkable, use words to translate a 3D medium into a 1D medium. In The Dancers World he admits that the “conventional language alone is inadequate” 2, expressing the difficulty of the task that lies ahead, yet he once again fulfilled his quest though imperfect in delivery some critics say, he has several written books and texts out translating dance into words. One book in particular, Die Welt des Tanzer (The Dancer’s World), proclaimed Labans belief in the power of dance and came to be called the ‘Bible of Dance Movement’.
